No Bake Protein Shake

print recipe

A protein shake that tastes like a no bake cookie! A friend of mine gave me this idea, particularly from her kids. Thank you Beth! We developed this protein shake – and yes, it is very nutrient dense so it makes a great meal swap for a busy day. So don’t let the nutrition facts scare you, this is basically a healthy breakfast. Every ingredient matters, and they are all filled with nutrition.

Just check out the ingredients! A banana to make it sweet, cocoa powder for the chocolate factor, avocado to make it creamy, and then the ingredients that make it taste like a good-oldfashioned (only slurp-able) no bake cookie: oats, peanut butter, and vanilla.

I just love a messy food photo.

Ingredients

8 ounces almond milk (or your favorite nut milk), plus more
1 large ripe banana, frozen
4 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup whole or quick oats
3 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter (make sure the only ingredients are peanuts and salt)
3 tablespoons ripe avocado
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
ice

Preparation

1. In a high powered blender, combine all ingredients – including protein powder if you are using it – except banana. Blend several seconds until smooth. Add frozen banana in chunks and pulse for a creamy consistency.
2. Add another splash of almond milk if needed. Finally, add in a handful of ice and pulse just until shake is thick but still creamy. Pour into two glasses and enjoy immediately!
